I was at an ADHD seminar recently where a paediatritian suggested that there was almost a continuum starting with ADD, ADHD, Dyspraxia, Aspergers, Autism, because frequently children (OR Adults) tend to present with symptoms from more than one of these conditions. Specific Learning Disabilities such as Dyslexia probably overlapped with these conditions. He also said that the conditions appeared to be of a genetic origin in many cases. I am dyslexic and have 11/27 cousins on my fathers side of the family with similar problems. Some of their children also have SLDs. I have 3 children whose father has ADD. son 1 17ys: severly dyspraxic, Aspergers, possibly ADD son 2 15ys: severly dyslexic, severe ADHD daughter 12ys: mild dyspraxia, possibly ADD(not severe) also some signs of dysexia slow to stop letter reversals From my own family history I am sure these problems in my family are of a genetic origin
