your ob/gyn have should have discussed the optio to have a amniocentisis should your afp level have come out abnormal. the afp test is done between 16-19wks and checks for downs syndrome and neural tube defects. if the results were abnormal they should have been communicated to you. the amnio is the only sure way to see is your baby has downs syndrome. but, nevertheless, it has its risks:misscarriage. but honestly would you love you're baby any less?
