I too have heard you can only get chicken pox one time, but my daughter had it twice. She was very small when she caught it the first time and it was a mild case. Later on, she caught it again -- probably because she had not built up sufficient antibodies the first time. I do not believe she required a doctor's care either time, so we diagnosed her ourselves based on her exposure to chicken pox and symptoms. Hope it helps!
