I had back surgery in 1999 on L5-S1. The surgeon (who is no longer practicing at the hospital) removed the disc, put in a "cage" then screwed in only one side. He stated there was no bone to screw in the other side. He also stated there would be no problems but he had never done that before stating he did not realize there was no bone until he was doing the surgery. I have been in extreme pain since. I am 26 years old and get mixed answers when it comes to another surgery. I finally found another doctor who agreed to see me and he said the bone was there as he pointed it out on the x-rays. He wanted to remove the cage and screws and re-do the surgery. Has anyone had anything like this done before? Any opinions, suggestions would be appreciated.
