Yvonne, Sorry to hear about your experience in the ER!! Sadly this is typical. The ER doctors are not equiped to handle "female" emergancies...The BEST thing you can do is find out which hospital YOUR GYN or Specialist has Privilages at or where his/her group does rounds and go THERE when you have an emergancy. That way you know that someone from YOUR doctors group will not only be called but they will come see you in the ER. If you are just going to a GP next week I'm not sure what they are going to, or can do for you?? You will need more tests to find out if there is any damage to your ovary. Most likely there is not. It does stretch..it just HURTS! They can do an ultrasound, internally, to get a good look at it...They can also do a HSG, which is normally a test for infertility...it to see if your tubes are blocked. Basically they inject dye up in through your uterues and watch it go through your tubes and spill into your ovaries. It should stop there. If you have severe damage they would see it pretty clearly on this type of x-ray. Your doctor may also want to do a laperoscopy to go in and see what it did or even "just in case"...Cysts are not always just fluid...The body does NOT always absorb what comes out of them. If it was an endometrioma, for example, the stuff inside will act like super glue and bind your ogans together. This type of cyst is common with certain conditions...like Endometriosis, Fibriods or PCOS. Not normally just a one time bad cyst... Sorry you have to wait for answers!! They only thing I can really hope is that you are resting comfortabley...if not call your doctor sooner!!! Good Luck!
