A friend I grew up with had 1 kidney removed when he was 8 years old. He was told he could do everything a person with 2 kidneys could do...play sports etc. We played lots of sports and tackle football after school as we were growing up. I recently saw him at our 30 year high school reunion and he said his kidney was ok but he was starting to have some problems with it. He said he wished the doctors hadn't told him he could do anything which may be a cause of his decline in health at this age. This is my only experience with this situation...hope it helps ... T
