In april of 2000 I was hurt on the job. Since then I have had a c4-5 discectomy with fusion using bone from a cadaver. That surgery was in March of 2001. Although I am still in pain it is no where near the pain I was experiencing before the surgery. As well I had to have a discectomy at L4-5 for a herniated disc. I was told that I would always have pain but at least I don't have the severe pain and tingling down my leg and foot. In January of 2002 I went to a pain management clinic that was five days a week for 4 weeks 8am-5pm. We stretched every day and learned efficient body mechanics and how to get around the pain through relaxtion and other techniques. In the center there were therapists, medical doctors and psychologist dr.s. At first I was skeptical about the psychologist part but then realize that when you get hurt like that your whole world has to change which can be hard to deal with. Talking will help you cope and help you to realize that being in your situation having a 2 year old is a lot to deal with. I sure wish you the best of luck. Remember every one is different so get as much information that you can find and do whatis best for you. My heart and prayers go out to you.
