Sorry to tell you but I have a herniated disk in the same spot and my orthopaedic doctor told me that surgery would probably be the only answer. Mine was microscopic surgery. He just went in through a very small incision and trimmed off the disk where it was sticking out. Mine was pressing against my sciatic nerve which caused a tremendous amount of pain. Good luck. I would get a second opinion.
