I am the mother of an 8-yr. old girl who was also born with CMV. We are originally from San Diego, Ca. and she was put on a study protocol for a drug called Gancyclovir, it was given to her for 5 weeks. It seemed to help her while she was getting it, like it stopped the virus from causing any more damage. We were told it only works in the first few months so with your daughter being 20 mos. old i am not sure what to tell you. But I have alot of experience with this and would be more than happy to send you info or email you or even exchange #'s so we could talk. Our CMV Dr. (in San Diego) seemed to always have me talk to new parents about what to expect and how to cope. I was always the parent that was called and asked questions. So, just let me know. By the way , we live in Dallas, Tx. now. Where are you from?
