I'm sorry to hear your son has cmv, I had a daughter who was stillborn because of this virus. You should ask your doctor to refer you to someone who knows about cmv who can tell you how badly your son is effected, unfortunatly it is very unlikely that he will inprove. Once you have cmv you have it for life, most people have no problems with it but congenital cmv and cmv that is contracted at birth can have very serious effects. Also if your wife has not had her cmv anti-bodies checked since she has been pregnant it is very important that she be checked since if she were to contract cmv while pregnant the effects can be far more serious. I hope this is of some help to you, I have spent many hours finding as much info as possible since alot of doctor although they have heard of cmv very rarely come across it. The groups mostly having symptems with cmv and other problems are babies who contract it either in the womb or at birth and those people with a lowered immuneity
