The plugs do work in many cases, but whatever you do, DO NOT allow them to permanently plug your puncta via cauterization! This is an irreversible procedure and if the results are not good, there is no recourse. I was victimized by cauterization and now am forced to live with excessive reflex tearing. Tears rundown my face at all times - and there isn't a darn thing the opthamologic profession can do about it!
