Hi. I was diagnosed w/ EDS type III about 3 yra ago. I'm 36-years-old and am now disabled due to EDS. I had my own business as a medical transcriptionist and worked full time at the local hospital. Anyway, EDS has dramatically changed my life and I too would love to have someone to talk to who can understand the disease. My knees are always weak and painful but not very bad compared to my hips. Anyway, I don't know much about the knee and what you can do for it. I use a knee brace, it doesn't have any metal, it's made out of scuba diver suit type material and works kind of like an Ace bandage. I know soaking the joint in pain in hot water, wrapping in heating pad, then lightly massaging it might aleviate some of the pain. Although, sometimes/some people prefer ice, I just never use ice, always heat. The only other thing I can think of is taking something like Motrin. I've found that Aleve, taken at twice the recommended dose, helps alot. Be really careful though, if you have an ulcer or stomach problems you shouldn't probably take it, and always take it w/ food. Well, I hope I had something useful for you to try. Good luck. Please write anytime as I would really like to share w/ another EDS person, so far I've not met a single per w/ EDS. Take care, Lisa
