Are you SURE it is a herniated disk..by x-ray or MRI? I have low back pain which can get severe and have a cortisone 'shot' into my low back next to the spine, which stops the pain for or a few mos. They can only be given about 3 x a year but if you have had no x-ray verifying the herniated disk, you might try THAT or ask any pain clinic about a cortisone "shot" if you HAVE.
