High Blood Pressurer

Two things come to mind with your hus- band's high blood pressure and his surgery. No. 1 -- is he taking any anti-inflammatory medicine or a vioxx type drug -- even aspirin? I am very blood pressure sensitive to anti- inflammatory meds and develop extremely high blood pressure on them as in the 240/120 range. My doctor just decided to give me a try on vioxx last week; my b/p has climbed bt the day. Yesterday in his office it was 196/106 and he knew it would just keep going up the longer I stayed on the vioxx. Some people cannot take these kinds of drugs and I know the anti-inflammatories are used for shoulder surgeries as my husband had a shoulder surgery. Also, last year after I had a surgery, my blood pressure went to 240/120 +/- without any reason. We were scrambling to find reasons -- had multiple testing including testing for pheochromocytoma through National Institute of Health. I, too, was on six medications for b/p, none of which were doing any good. (I was not on any anti-inflammatory at the time). Finally, my blood pressure started to settle down on its own. It took about a year. While it will probably never be perfect, it is now in the 148/84 range on one b/p medication -- Clonidine 0.1 at bedtime. Neither myself nor my doctor can understand this; I have heard of this happening to others; and have been told it could be due to a baroreflex failure....
