I also have IBS but mine is of the diarrhea type usually. There have been times when I could not make it to the bathroom. It is really embarrassing, especially when the urge hits me in the mall or department store. I quit work in early January and rarely go anywhere for fear that the urge will hit. I suggest you discuss this with your physician frankly. I have found that certain foods trigger this for me and I try my best to avoid them. My mother has the type you have (constipation) and is miserable from it. I don't know which is worse (not being able to go or going at a moments urge. Good luck to you.
