My son was diagnosed with ADHD at age4. The stimulant medications he was placed on caused him to enter into a full blown manic episode with psychosis. As he was later re-evaluated and found to have bipolar disorder,the doctor added a mood stabilizer. But they are still giving him the dexedrine!! My doctor won't look at lithium because she says it is not safe in children. My son is now 10yrs old,and I know many children on lithium. Does any one have any literature or studies showing its safety and/ or effecacy from the medical community's standpoint????? Help I just want to get my child the right medication,nothing works and he is now in foster care for violence I know is caused by the Dexedrine.
