Dear Patty: I know personally the pain you are going through, for I have been suffering with RLS for over 20 years. Many drugs that have been prescribed only work for a while or put you so far out in left field that you can't possibly do your daily activities let alone drive a vehicle safely. Over exercise will make matters worse and not enough exercise is just as bad. Massage theropy works well followed by a long soak in a hot bathtub. Stress seems to play a factor. I wish I could say it will get better and for you I truely hope it does. But for me I am in the severly advanced stage. There are only a few hours in the day that I don't jump and jerk and not just my legs. My shoulders, arms hands and feet draw up so tight and with such intense pain, I can only pray no one ever reaches this stage. I will be glad to give you list of the different medications that have helped through the years. I am currently doctoring at the University of Wisconsin in Madison for this condition and will be glad to forward any news that may help.
