Two yrs ago, I had the same sharp, burning pain. Previous mammograms had shown cysts, but never anything to worry about my GYN always said. This time he sent me to a breast surgeon who did a biopsy. It turned out to be two cysts and I haven't had any pain since they were removed. He told me that the type of cysts I had never become cancerous and if I should ever develop breast cancer, it was purely coincidental. I still go for yearly mammograms and now the scar tissue from the surgery shows up on the x-rays. Ask your doctor for a referral to a breast surgeon or for an ultrasound in addition to your mammogram.
