I am an adult with Aspergers Syndrome and Aspergers somewhat related to Autism. It is part of the pervasive development disorder spectrum. Some people with Aspergers have more problems than other people with Aspergers. There are many and varied "symptoms" of Aspergers. Most prevalent is the impairment in social abilities and a limited scope of interest. People with Aspergers also tend to have very high IQs, but may have some learning problems. I understand how your child feels when people ignore him or mistreat him. It is very frustrating and can lead to depression. You may also want to contact the agency in your area that is responsible for helping people who have mental handicaps. I will tell you that many people have never heard of Aspergers since it has only been a few years that the psychiatrists and psychologists in the US have recognized it as a mental handicap. It can be an uphill battle to get the information and help you need, but it is important to get informed. There is a lot of information here and several links to other Asperger sites. Good Luck
