Scolioses- - - - Need Help

Message 8 of 11 Previous Next

I have just passed my 6 week mark after having scoliosis surgery at age 41. I learned I had scoliosis when I was a teen but it was not severe enough to merit agressive treatment. I was advised to do back exercises (which I was very lazy about). I had on and off back pain but nothing which disabled me. Last April I had a hysterectomy. I hadn't had my back condition followed for years but unrelated x-rays prior to the hysterectomy showed a 35 degree curve and in August (after dealing with LOTS of back pain and the inability to walk any distance) my curve was measured at 60 degrees. I wonder if anyone has any information about changes in scoliosis after a hysterectomy? Anyway - the surgery fused 10 vertebra from T10 to S2 and I am tall and straight and have no pain. I am so grateful to God and my doctor. Its wonderful to know I will be able to have a life again. Prior to the surgery, I had a lot of pain reduction between August and April when I lost 50 lbs. This wasn't the easiest thing since I was in so much pain from any amount of exercise, but paid off big dividends before and after the surgery.
