My 15-years-old son has just recovered from his spinal fusion surgery performed late April to correct his double-curve scoliosis. His curves were 50 degrees and 54 degrees before surgery. The operation went well without complications and his recovery has been very smooth and speedy. We are all very happy about the entire experience although we had been very worried before the operation. So if you do need surgery, you don't have to worry too much about it. However, your curve is very minor at 15 degrees and I'm surprised it causes you so much pain. Maybe you should get a second opinion from another doctor. I suggest you contact the National Scoliosis Foundation for more information. It was through them that we got to know about the orthopedist we eventually selected for our son, and that doctor was great. Good luck!
