I had scoliosis surgery at the age of 31. I never had pain prior to surgery. I have two curves. One curvature was in the lower 50's and the other was in the higher 50's. My back was straightened tremendously, but I now live in constant pain. My doctor and his team of doctors are among the best in the world. He is a doctor at the Beth Israel Spine Institute in New York City. I recommend him highly. He is wonderful. His phone number is 212.844.8688. I do not recommend surgery for you. A 15% curve is nothing, nor is it noticable to anyone but you probably. I live in a great deal of pain every second of every day. My curves are greater than yours after surgery. Even with 50 some degree curves, most people did not notice my scoliosis. The greatest thing you can do for your self is to strength train and take yoga. Keep your back and bentire body strong and flexible. The pain should go away. Take over the counter medication like advil when needed. Hire a personal trainer and give yourself a year. I run alot. It makes my back feel great because it keeps my body limber. Buy a good pai of running shoes like the Nike Air Max and run slowly. Run 2 to 3 miles 3 times a week . You should see a difference in no time. I would not trust a doctor who was willing to operate on someone with only a 15% curvature. Remember that your back is filled with nerves and muscles. Once a doctor cuts into your back, it is never the same. The pain you have now will seem non-existant after surgery. Speak to doctor Kuflick. He will tell you the same thing. He advised me not to have the surgery. I should have listened to him.
