I can really relate to what it's like to be misdiagnosed. My first episode I had bad photosensitivity, redness and pain. I went to an internist (the HMO's gatekeeper) and was misdiagnosed with conjunctivitis and given sulfa drops. By the weekend (of course) things were so bad I had to go to UrgiCare, where I was actually properly diagnosed by a physician's assistant. She was quite impressed and said she hadn't seen iritis since she was in training at L.A. County/USC med. center, years ago. She called in the doctor and nurses to observe--like I was some kind of specimen (very reassuring!) Anyway, all the tests for autoimmune disorders luckily came back negative and it seems to be connected to bad allergies and sinus inflamation. My opthamologist suggested this, but at first I poopooed it--until the connection was quite clear. My allergist and another opthamologist seemed skeptical. Well, I'm glad your's is under control. (By the way I was 45 when this started.
