20 February 2002 I read with interest your posting on HelathlinkUSA regarding your 14 week old dwarf infant. I felt the need to respond because my wife Olga and I, too, have recently given birth to a delightful and charming little dwarf son, Gabriel. We have been especially fortunate to have met helpful people along the way to assist and guide us in the parenting process. Our child was diagnosed at 30 weeks into the pregnancy through ultrasound. Gabriel is and achondroplastic dwarf -- the most common type. So far he has done remarkably well and we have had few issues. But Gabriel is just 5 weeks old. May I ask, what kind of dwarfism was your child diagnosed to have? We understand that there are more than 100 types. Amazing. Each presents different concerns and opportuities. How are you coping? What kind of medical support are you receiving? Have you already hooked up with the parents support group online forum?
