I too was in a car accident last fall and had to have cervical neck surgery on 5-6 and 6-7. They were both herniated and I experienced a lot of pain in my right arm. Immediately following surgery the pain was gone. I would recommend seeing a good neurosurgeon. I was in the hospital only overnight. Required very little pain medicine after a week or two. Because there were two disks, I am required to wear a neck brace for 12 weeks. If I had had only ONE disk it would not have been necessary. Tell your friend not to wait too long...nerve damage can result. I had two spinal injections, but they did not produce results for me, therefore surgery was required. My two fingers are still tingling, but the doctor believes that will go away in time. Good luck.
