Ditto on all the sinus remarks from all of you. I early childhood I had trouble with sinus allergies & my ears. I hadn't had any problems of this nature in years. This episode all began 27 months ago after I went to So Ca on a vacation. I returned home to Az & I acquired what I thought was a sinus infection. Now I have had Two plus years with this condition no surgery despite I lost hearing { moderate in my left ear & lesser in the other ear with this 2yr plus battle. Antibiotics failed also & Nasal washes help only a little. I have thick tenuous mucous constantly, extremly dry eyes & conjunctivitis now. I also developed Ostio spondoysis {arthritis condition} in my neck. I have continuos swollen glands in my neck and tremendous facial pain like the rest of you. The diagosis from several CT scans & MRI with Contrast are a polyp on right side and inflamation on the worst most painful side. This may be causing a blocked ostia. I have chronic eustaician tube dysfunction also for what now seems like permanately. My question is EXACTLY what is INFLAMATION if they don't treat it as an infection?? The only antibiotics I ever have had were Augmentin for 10 days and one other mild antibiotic a few yrs ago.. neither worked. Of course also that all to familiar thinner guafensin thats useless and rhinocort aqua which does absolutely nothing. I tested negative for allergy. Neurologist doctor said I was okay, and suggested I just learn to live with it. Easier said than done as you all know!My teeth are also deteriorating suposedly from the arthritis & dry eye condition in addition. I had hoped to have the large hole in my ear repaired with surgery but after two yrs the ENT says not until I get rid of the sinus drainage and offers no options on just how to achieve this. I seem to feel this is costing us all too much money with very little relief or benefit not to mention the cost of pain medications.Personally I refuse to resort to addictive pain killers but, I know how debilating this is. Like the rest of you I am loosing hope but hopeful that one day soon there will be answers and a cure.
