Dear Jordan, I am a 49 year old female. About 4 years ago I ruptured a disk while biking. I couldn't even stand let alone walk. Two doctors recommended surgery. I beleive in natural remedies before drugs and surgery. My doctor encouraged me to go to Physical Therapy. My husband wheeled me into therapy 3 times a week for about 3 weeks. During my fourth and fifth week (and after upping my pain meds in order to handle the very painful therapy) I was finally able to walk out of the hospital on my own. I continue to do the exercises they taught me every day. They help to stretch and strenghten my back. I currently exercise 4 to 5 hours a week treadmill, nordik track, weights, and stairmaster and even an areobic kickboxing class). Nobody could have ever made me believe 4 years ago that I would have been capable of such a lifestyle! Back surgery can leave scar tissue in its place which can even be worse than the original problem. I am very glad my G.P. recommended the phyical therapy. GOOD LUCK Jordan!!
