BRAIN INJURY (ANOXIC)

TLT

Message 6 of 6 Previous

My sister-in-law had a car accident about 17 years ago that left her first in a coma for six months, then like a baby. It took a long time, but she eventually worked up to living on her own in an apartment complex FOR HEAD INJURY where she had her own apt. She managed her own checking acct., food stamps, etc. I have read the other replies to you and I agree that there TRULY needs to be more for the head injury people in this nation. Some areas of the country will just place them in a nursing home as noone knows what to do with them. Training is key and PATIENCE on your part is absolutely MANDATORY. They struggle within because many times they remember where they were physically, mentally, etc. before the accident. Depending on the type of brain injury, those like my sister-in-law can remember up to the day before her accident. Don't give up! Support is key in recovery!
