BRAIN INJURY (ANOXIC)

Mike

Message 3 of 6 Previous Next

I'm a survivor of a brain injury. What I have learned of it is, that relearning and patience is key. The survivor literally has to relearn from step one. If that means working with the person in relearning to recognize what food is, what it's purpose is and how to properly use and how and when to consume it, even if the person says that they know what it is and what it's for. Check with a brain injury support group or clinic. Also use the keyword "Brain or Head Injury" to find some very helpfull, supportive and informative sights. Remember..not every brain inj. is the same. Sometimes we get "stuck" in a behavior glich. Lot's of persistant practice and awareness on both the survivors and the caregivers parts. Some states have a nationwide Brain Injury Association. Much lesgilation is needed for Brain injury programs. I may not be right with my suggestions, but hopefully you'll gain something out it. Good Luck Mike
