Laurie - Thank you for your response. In answer to your questions she talks extremely well. She is my third child and she talks better than both her brothers ever did. I guess she is a bit shy. She goes to pre school and talks there, when she started there last year it took her a few months before she would talk. She has been in kindergarten since Sept. She talked one day for a test for her report card but it took almost 2 weeks of coaxing. She appears to like school and her teacher she just wont talk. She says she is scared everyone will laugh. I think they have made such a big deal out of it in school this year that she does not know how to go back now. I also have a couple people in my family that she sees regularly and she wont talk to them either. She will nod when asked a question which is an improvement. I think they are thinking about keeping her back and I dont know that will help.The teacher was given the suggestion to ignore her which I think is wrong. She can ignore the problem and not make a big deal but not my daughter. It has been a frustating year to say the least. Sometimes I look at her and say she is only 5 she is still a baby, then I think what if it is a problem that continues what do I do. I have made an appointment with a doctor so hopefuly they have some suggestions. Any suggestions are appreciated. Again Thank you for your time.
