My mother passed away 4 years ago with Idopatic Pulmonary Fibrosis. She had two brothers and a sister that passed away with the same disease. We later found out that their mother passed away with the same disease and that it is inherited. They showed the first signs of the disease in their sixties. My mother lived four years after she was diagnosed. They did two surgery's trying to figure out some type of treatment that would help her but her lungs had turned to cardboard and when they took out a piece to test, the hole would not close. This caused one of the lungs to collapse ending her life sooner. If we had it to do over again, we would have objected to the surgery. We have been told there is no cure. The children of my generation have all been tested and so far the disease has not shown up, however, we are continuing to be tested as some of us are now in our sixties.
