Hi ladies, I also had microcalsifacations show up in my mamo in Sept. 00, then was told to go for another one in 6 months. I went in March 01, and it showed a few more calsifacations on my mamo. I am 47 years old. My mom had breast cancer at the age of 72, which was over 9 years ago. She had to have a lumpectomy and 36 rounds of radiation theraphy and was put on tomoxifen for 5 years. Thank God she is now 83 years old and no reoccurence again. I went to the breast surgeon in March and he advised me to have a biopsy which was done on April 20, 2001. They inserted dye into the right breast then made a inch and 1/2 cut and took out all of the calisifactions which showed up in the dyed area. In my case it was a mass of tissue measuring 2 inches in diamater. It was then frozen and sent to be tested. It came out with atypical cells,(abnormal cells) which is a pre cancerious condition. I was assesed for my risk factor to get cancer and I was in a high risk level. (They have come up with a way to test you, ask your doctor about it.) My surgeon advised me to go to an onocoligist and to go on to tomoxifen theraphy which is now used to prevent breast cancer. On Fri. May 18 I go to see my onocoligist and see what she recomends for me to do. I also have Lupus and this is another battel to fight. One I pray God will help me to win. If you need to reach me, write me back on this post, I will keep reading this post, and I will also keep you informed as to my progress. In the mean time I wish all of you luck with your biopsyes and they're outcomes. Don't be afraid to ask your doctor for all the information you need to understand your case.
