We are desparately trying to get a diagnosis or direction for this girl. She's had a severe headache for 2 months. First she was treated for allergies; then sinus infection. She had neither. She had an MRI and was thought to have a pseudotumor celebri. She had a lumbar puncture which did not indicate anything. She went to a retina specialist and he indicated the testing was normal. She then went to a second pediatric neurologist today, who indicated it probably was not pseudotumor -- just a small cyst which is not worrysome. He thought it was perhaps a viral infection. She had been given many different kinds of antibiotics, epileptic medicine, etc. The neurologist today said those medications probably made her worse. He has prescribed something else for a possible viral infection. If she doesn't get better, he wants her in the hospital for 48 hours in a week for interveinous medication. The first neurologist wanted to do another spinal tap. The second neurologist (today) said that the spinal tap was not done correctly, and it was unnecessary. Should we just wait another week? Does anyone know what this might be. Her only symptom is a severe headache. She has been laying for over six weeks. She has lost ten pounds. Thank you.
