I sympathize with your husband. Silence can be unbearable. There doesn't seem to be a cure, but maybe if we sufferers would be more vocal, more research would be done and folk would pay attention. Actually, I have pulsatile so there is the sound of my pulse always in my right ear. I can diminish the sound with noise, but also I found that a wax ear plug helps me. Three doctors told me that doesn't work and that it would make it worse. It's funny that they would tell me that when I'm telling them that it helps me. So I think mine has something to do with hearing because the plug muffles the sound. I've had all kinds of tests and have been told it is a neuro problem where wrong signals are being sent in my brain. The explanations do not help me at all. Good luck.
