Our son,Danny,is 4 years old and he gets croup a few times every year. We have been trying to pinpoint the cause, have had some luck but we are still working on it. We know that cigarette smoke & burning leaves do it to him. However, two weeks ago I had him w/ me to pick up our daughter at her friends house and he got it that night. Her friend had 3 inside cats! We think that might have been the cause. Danny never has a fever, or even a cold beforehand. It is always very sudden, in the middle of the night w/ no forewarning whatsoever. I suggest that you try to keep him away from cats and try to talk to your Dr. to try to pinpoint his causes too. Good luck! We know how stressful this is!-Becky
