I have been diagnosed with osteomyelits. Nothing shows up in tissue or bone samples. My understanding is that my blood vessels in the upper jaw have been damaged by an old infection from a root canal(20 years ago) - once the blood vessels collapse, the bone dies. When the bone dies is crumbles and the teeth become loose. I am on long term penicillin therapy and expect to start hyperbaric chamber therpy in the near future. Apparently this is very rare and most Dr. have not encountered it. It has taken me 5 years and three specialists to get a diagnosis.
