Once when at a loss because of a constant battle with headlice at our church of all places, I called the centers for disease control. My daughter would go to church and come home with headlice. This is what I was told and it worked for us. The man said to get the brand name "Head and Sholders" shampoo. Not a generic. He said that if you read the ingrediants in it it has a "pestacide" in it. He told me that if I would wash my daughters head NIGHTLY with the head and sholders, and each day put her pillows, blankets, etc in the dryer for a cycle. Also he told me to use the hose attachment of the vaccuum and go over places where she rests her head. AFTER putting a flea coller in the bag of the vaccuum. Keep in mind, this shampoo does not kill the eggs. It only kills live headlice. But if done nightly for a period of a few weeks the live ones do not have a chance to lay eggs. I also found that after I got rid of them on her, if I would use it before she went to places where she would get reinfested, tha for some reason they did not find her hair apealing.
