Thanks for correcting the type of surgery I'm having. I still have nightmares just thinking of a bag attached to my stomach for a few days. I do have to go through a colonoscopy sometimg this week. My doctor just wants to make sure there is nothing there to surprise him. Surgery is this coming Tuesday after Labor Day. It is really hard to think that because this runs in my family on both sides that I would get diverticulitis at my age 48, and that it would be so severe that I would need surgery. Both my doctors did not diagnose this when I had my first attack in 1997. Since then, because of the infecitons, my colon has so much scarring that it has narrowed considerably. I'm not even sure which piece he will want to remove. Just hope that this will make me feel better in the long run. I know I will still have to watch what I eat, and this is ok. Thank you for writing back. Am looking forward to a very speedy recovery and I will listen to my body. Thankfully I have the sick days and vacation if I need it.
