Reply to Jo: I know exactly how you feel. My 8 year old son has had strep many times over the past three years, this year he's had it four times already and is just getting over another bout. I too do not feel comfortable giving him antibiotics so often as I've heard you can become immune to them eventually. A doctor on call mentioned that if you have strep more than three times a year, you should consider removing your tonsils, but he didn't say it would stop my son from having strep again. I too am going to be referred to a specialist to get some answers. Its not fair for anyone to be sick so many times from the same thing. I am also going to ask the people that my son sees on a regular basis to be tested to see if they are carriers, as he could be contracting strep from that person.
