My daughter had recurrent strep throats from infancy. Finally, the doctor believed me that we couldn't keep her well when she tested positive during a well-child physical. Finally she got strep throat, went on an antibiotic, tested negative on meds, but became sick 12-24 hours after she got off them. After 3 full cycles and 2 different antibiotics every 6 hours we consulted an ENT. He administered a shot of penicillin and she had a T & A. The strep throat vanished, but she suffered from impetigo or cold sores ( the doctors never agreed) for many years. It still will happen if the conditions are right, but she got off the antibiotic merry-g-round. She is now 34.
