My 25-year old daughter who has Type I Diabetes since she was 11 shares a similar frustrating problem. In addition to the chronic constipation and diarrehea the lower back and hip joint pain have been dehabilitating...No one seems to know how to help her. It has been suggested the lower back and hip joint pain is due to nerve damage and although it may be coincindental that you both share an irritable bowel, I'm wondering if there's a connection here.
