Hi Audrey, Psoriasis run in my family and it can jump generations. It is hediterary. you have to search which branch of your family got it. Your mum or dad side. Grand mother or grand father. In my family it comes from my grand mother side. My GM did not get it but my dad, one of nis brother and 2 sisters got it--in all they are 3 brothers and 6 sisters--. I do not have it yet, I am 49 neither my brother nor my sister but my son just got it at the age of 16 on his arms and body. Psoriasis come and goes. Worries stress or a simple cold can triggered it. In my son case it was a simple cold. In my dad case every time he is stress and food mainly fish, and every time he travelled abroad his psoriasis vanished. I guess because he is more calm and relaxed. From my understanding too this is very rare for a child of his age. There is lots development and new drugs and ointments to keep it under controll. I am from mauritius and I know of lots of people with psoriasis who go to Israel for treatment. The dead sea and its related products are very good in treating psoriasis. I am no expert, I am just passing my observation of my own family. At times it might just come once and never return, I wish and pray your son fall in this category. Best wishes Ahmad
