Hi Michele, My husband is 36 years old and has very advanced RP. Now, our 15-year-old son has just been diagnosed. My husband has less than 2 degrees peripheral vision in one eye, not measurable in the other. This has been devastating for our family, but it is quite amazing how few people know about until we decide to tell them. I take my silent cues from my husband (If there is something not at eye level in front of him, someone is holding out a hand to shake, etc.) My son, however, is a different story. He is really struggling to deal with this diagnosis, and I must admit we both feel guilt for him. When we had our children, we did not even know about the RP. I can't imagine finding something like this out myself--that alone at 15 (such a strange age). Forgive me, I'm rambling. Bottom line, I remember all the times my husband was there for me as a labor coach, during surgery, etc. I just know that he has always been such a selfless person that there is no way I couldn't do everything in this world to help him. I wish you all the best, and may God bless you.
