Michelle, I am a 37 yr old woman who was diagnosed with RP 1 year ago.. I have 10% of my peripheal vision left. If it were not for the constant prodding of my husband to see the eye Dr. I still would not be diagnosed. I continue to drive during the day, although not in heavy traffic, and never after dark. My Dr. told me that I have adjusted well, as I never knew what I have lived with my entire life. However, as I become more aware of my disability, it can be very discouraging. My husband is very supportive, as well as my family and friends. It is definately a life altering disease. considering have your life is spent in darkness. I really don't think about all the negative things, this disease causes me, until I have to deal with it. Climbing and descending stairs, the darkness, driving etc. I would love to speak to you and any one else who has RP as I am new to the disease myself.. dlop143@aol.com Best wishes to you and yours.
