Andrea
I have had 3 different doctors tell 3 differnt diets. I am so confused. My daughter goes every 2 - 3 days and 80% of the time they are large, painful and give her fisurs (bleeding). One doctor said to limit her dairy to less than 9 oz/day then another doctor said NO she needs more apple juice. Is there such a thing as too much? she was getting about 30 oz/day and I felt like that was too much. Then her latest doctor said to try sugar water (1 tspn of table sugar for every ounce of water). I feel so guilty when I pour 8 tspn's of sugar into my daughters water bottle twice a day. I just want someone to tell me how many fluids she should be drinking each day and of what?!?!? HELP. I do not give her constipating food - ie: yogurt, squash, carots, cheese, rice. She pretty much eats a high fiber diet - example of food/bev for a day: 5 oz prune juice, oatmeal, 8 oz sugar water, grahm crackers, 8 oz whole milk, chicken nuggets and peas, 8 oz sugar water, toast, 8 oz whole milk spagetti, corn, 5 oz apple juice. What am I doing wrong?
