ankylosing spondylitis

I and two of my sisters have as all of us have eye problems so watch out for that. I got a detached retina from the as and am now blind in one eye and that eye is a constant battle with iritis, both sisters have battled iritis also. The as seems to be in my chest mostly causing pain every time I breath (can't give up breathing!!) Is also in my back (I have scoliosis too) but I have a good doctor (had to switch a couple of times to find her) she gives me Naprelan, Ultra (for pain) and Robaxin (muscle relaxor)...if I feel a lot of pain I can take them all and feel much better...usually I take one Ultra in the morning and one Naprelan with lunch and a half Ultram around 5pm and a half muscle relaxor at bedtime. Sounds like a lot of meds and I am trying to cut back (already have a lot) ---my advise is drink lots of water don't drink alcohol if you can help it if you do drink try hard to keep it at a minimum it really makes a difference in how you will feel. Of course, don't smoke and eat as healthy as possible. I take B12 supplements and a good natural vitamin and mineral supplement. At the first sign of eye trouble find a good opthalmogist or you could end up blind in one eye like me. Sounds bad what I have written but...it really isn't that bad you can live with it just keep busy . I have been working at the same job for almost 15 years and thank goodness it is a desk job but at least I am able to keep working. Good luck to you and your family ...my family suffers too--I am so sorry.
