Mary Lou
I have RSD for the second time. First time I had a serious accident that mangled my left hand. About 14 years ago. Don't recall the meds I was given then but it worked. Now on Feb. 9th I had major surgery on the right hand and the RSD came out in that hand and arm. Was in a cast and the pain was terrible. Finally was sent to the pain clinic at Loma Linda Hospital in California. Was given a nerve stimulator to use at home and put on some new medicine, one is Doxepin 10mg before bed and the other is Neurontin 100mg 3 times a day. It seems to be working. I am almost out of pain most of the time and the hand is more usable now. The swelling and shiny appearance is mostly gone. I find the nerve stimulator very helpful. It is called a TX-3Tens. Hope that this will give you some new information that will help. The Neurontin is a new med for RSD and was kind of experiementing to see if it would work. So far it seems to be working.
