I went to the doctor today for what I thought was an insect bite on the underside of my right breast.On Monday (9-3-01)of this week I had no symptoms, and Monday evening noticed a bright pink lump,surrounded by lighter pink tissue, & the center skin had begun peeling from the swelling --total diameter about the size of a quarter. I treated it with ice packs,which seemed to help,but by today (9-7-01)the center of the area had become purplish in color, surrounding tisssue still pink (but brighter pink) & total diameter now between quarter/half dollar in size. The doctor could not verify if indeed it is an insect bite, but suggested that it also could be breast cellulitis..... she circled the diameterof the pink tissue in pen, said if it enlarges at all I'm to come right back in,put me on antibiotics in the meantime, & scheduled me to come back in 6 days. I am not at all familiar with the term "breast cellulitis" or "external breast cancer" & would appreciate any information about it that I can get. Thank you.
