Genentech,the makers of the $8,000 a month drug Avastin, recently released a statement that detailed the positive effects of the drug. "When used with traditional chemotherapies, Avastin delays cancer progression and improves response".
I would have expected Genentech would have released a multitude of clinical studies to prove the effectiveness of Avastin and oppose the studies that the FDA have already reviewed! We do need drugs that save lives to be available. We do though need protecting against treatments that do nothing, especially when they cost $8,000 a month. I hope the FDA makes the right decision.
