You should see your neurosurgeon as quickly as possible. I have two children with this and one has been shunted and the other has not. The doctors have been doing shunts for many years, however there is another surgery that can help this greatly and it has worked well with us. It is a third ventriculostomy, and done well can restore you back to better health, and allow the pressure from building in your head. This is a serious situation and only a qualified doctor can make this diagnosis. My daugther with a shunt, no longer uses her shunt, because of this newer revised surgery, and my son had this done 7 years ago, and has not one problem since. You, however, have had problems that can complicate this situation and that can only be done with a very good neurosurgeon. Good luck, and I pray it will go well for you. You must have some pretty bad headaches and that can be hard all by itself.
